A serious accident occurred aboard a vessel involving a YANMAR 6N18L-SV auxiliary engine. Three (3) technicians, including a metal stitching expert and a crankshaft grinder, were sent to the vessel at Fujairah Port in Dubai. The connecting rod nuts on crankpin unit #02 failed, causing the connecting rod to strike the engine block. The engine block window cover seating area was severely damaged. The casting was split into pieces, as was the engine block's window cover, and the crankpin unit number #02 on the crankshaft was damaged.
