Common sense and a little wisdom! Remember the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. (Regardless of what they do to you.) You make the bed that you lie in! [You are your own worst enemy. So why are you surprised about what happened?] Ours is not to question why, but ours is to do or die! [Military person?] Birds of a feather flock together. Be careful who you hang out with. [You will be judged by the crowd you hang out with.] Hindsight is always 20/20. [It's easier to understand things in reverse, after they've happened.] The great hindrance to all true wisdom is the thought that we have already attained it (Plumptre). “The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.” (Stephen Hawking) “I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.” (Mark Twain) “Real knowledge is to know the extent of one’s ignorance.” (Confucious) It's not the size of the person in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the person. There's a silver lining in every cloud. [Look for the good in everything, not the bad.] We are only as happy as we make up our minds to be. I can't make you mad or glad or anything else; that's your decision. Just do the next right thing; or just do the next thing right. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. [Meaning, you can lead a human to the truth, but you can't make him believe it!] Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it. [Most don't know what's good for them anyway.] If you play with fire you are going to get burned. [Bad things will eventually hurt you.] You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Garbage in, garbage out! The person most likely to have a stroke is one who has already had a stroke; if they don't change their ways. [eat healthier, and keep a close eye on blood pressure and cholesterol levels] If a material thing is free, it is probably not worth having. A fool and his money are soon parted. A sucker is born every minute. [Are you one?] Don't buy a pig in a poke. [Never buy something sight unseen; read the 2 statements directly above] How can I be out of money? I still have checks left. Huh? [see both sayings above this one!] People will tell you anything to get your money. [Don't be a sucker.] Everything that glitters is not gold! [Just because it looks good, doesn't mean it is.] Worrying doesn't get the stump out of the ground. [Work is the only solution.] You have to crack a few eggs to make an omelet. [Sometimes you have to destroy something to make something better.] Observe a turtle sometime. He only makes progress when he sticks his neck out. [In other words, you don't gain anything unless you risk losing a little something. Like sleep for instance. If you want to get ahead in life, you might have to work and study the Bible at night. This applies to so many things; don't be afraid or lazy.] | |
