American Precoat Specialty had set up its electro-galvanized steel plant in Valsad, Gujarat, to promote self-sufficiency in India. Shubh explained that India imported 10,000 tons of electro-galvanized steel every month, despite being a significant steel producer. Electro-galvanized steel sheets were dipped in a zinc ion solution, and a current was passed through them to spread zinc ions over the steel sheets uniformly. The product had applications in various industries such as FMCG, automobile, defense, and medical equipment.
